Touching Up Tri-Coat Pearl Paint Colors

Tri-coat pearl colors undergo a three-stage application process: a base coat, typically an off-white flat color; a mid-coat, a different shade of white; and finally, a tinted clear coat infused with pearlescent colors for that distinctive shimmer.
Replicating this color precisely with a single paint bottle is unattainable, and attempting to apply all three colors individually would result in an impractical 3-color blob on each chip.
To address this, we’ve developed a range of approximate-match white pearl colors. These variations lean towards blue, gold, yellow, grey, etc., effectively matching the hues of contemporary white pearls on the road. Weeks were dedicated to formulating this array, carefully paired with known OEM colors. Our goal is for the car to appear seamlessly repaired after addressing the chips, and we believe we’ve achieved this quite well. While acknowledging there’s no “perfect match” for such colors without a complete body shop respray, we are confident that you’ll be satisfied with the provided paint.
Certain versions of tri-coat pearls, especially vibrant metallic reds, blues, greens, and yellows, pose challenges for an exact match. Yellow tri-coat pearls, in particular, are notably difficult. If your vehicle sports one of these colors, feel free to email us to inquire about our ability to create a close match. We prioritize honesty—there’s no need to invest time and effort in something beyond our capabilities.
